There may be a backlash (see #2) against state government employees, but there’s no evidence of one against federal government employees. The Feds, after all, can print as much money as they want.
Plus, just in case you thought the people were actually in charge in some way, a California District Court Judge is here to remind you that you’re not in charge at all.
I’m fine with gays getting married or any other combination of adult, humans getting married. The point is that we’re seeing a clear indication of who is running the country, and once again, it’s someone who is totally removed from any sort of responsibility.
(Our government’s position on marriage is retarded. If a government is going to record marriages, it should do so with the intent of encouraging marriage – like in Singapore. Our’s records marriages with the intent of discouraging them. My wife and I decided that if she stops working at a law firm (where the benefits are crappy) we’re going to get divorced to save money on taxes.)
The real problem conservatives should be up in arms over is that straight marriage is illegal (what is now called “marriage” has no relation to the legal contract that used to exist a hundred years ago, and if you try to write a contract to mimic a real marriage the courts won’t enforce it).
A very good point. Your point combined with my point on government actively discouraging marriage makes for some interesting thinking. Why is the government working so hard to discourage or destroy marriage?

Because destroying the family is the first step into utopia. That’s been the basic line from leftists for almost 200 years. The family was simply to strong of a unit and it competed very well with progressive propaganda. Thus it has to be weakened to create the utopia that progressive ideas promise.

I’d be seriously interested in an explanation of the sort of thing you mean here.
