Germany and progress

Germany is an interesting exception to the apres nousphilosophy. I remember that it isn’t so long ago that I read articles in respected publications pitying the poor old Germans for being so unimaginative as still to make things: manufacturing was the wave of the past, while taking in each other’s washing was the wave of the future, where all the easy money was to be made.
