Detroit’s population fell dramatically. How do city officials react?
The decline, the fastest in city history, shocked local officials, who had expected a number closer to 800,000. Mayor Dave Bing said the city would seek a recount.
"If we could go out and identify another 40,000 people that were missed, and it brings us over the threshold of 750,000, that would make a difference from what we can get from the federal and state government," Mr. Bing said at a news conference Tuesday.
That about sums it up, doesn’t it?
Sometimes I imagine what it would be like to be able to go back in time and talk to historical figures about what the present is like. Imagine, for example, if you could tell Gibbon about the modern US military. I’d start with this scenario:
“You are the Executive Officer of your unit. While shopping at the local mall over the weekend, you observe two junior male Marines in appropriate civilian attire assigned to your unit kissing and hugging in the food court.
New blog that looks interesting.
Is it possible to explain this fact in a non-racist way?
TAS who hasn’t blogged in a while, asks an interesting question.
