Review of “A Storm of Swords” by George R. R. Martin

Still good – two more to go. I hope this can keep up, but I’m nervous that there aren’t 4 more good books possible in this story.

Spoilers:

I haven’t been surprised by much in the books, but I was really surprised when Oberyn died.

  1. Matthew says:

I was even surprised on the re-read.

  2. sconzey says:

Me too. The worst thing about the Red Wedding was that it wasn’t surprising. Those last few chapters carried a horrific inevitability.

  3. Leonard says:

I was surprised by the red wedding. I mean I suspected something… but not that. “If you strike at a king…”

Unfortunately, Martin did not keep it up. The remaining books are still good and compulsively readable, just not as good.

  4. Zimriel says:

The first three were good. I couldn’t finish the fourth.
