Antonia Cromartie is trading way below his value because he’s an idiot:
The day after the Jets traded for Cromartie, Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum talked about being supportive of their new cornerback, who has the significant burden of supporting seven children by six different mothers in five different states.
But, we should analyze what is really going on here.
Cromartie obviously should not be having sex with this many different, stupid women. He’s an idiot and he’s having sex with idiotic women.
However, the laws of our current society force the cost of these idiotic decisions solely onto the man, i.e. Cromartie. In fact, it gets worse – the women get rewarded for their idiotic behavior.
Two idiots get together and make a baby even though they may never see each other again. The man has to pay for this mistake through state-mandate child support. If the woman has sex with a guy like Cromartie, she gets rewarded. She gets "her share" of his NFL salary to pay for the child’s well-being. Why the asymmetry?
This is bullshit and it should be recognized as such. There is no implicit contract that is signed when two people engage in sex such that the man has to pay for a child if the woman chooses to have a child. If abortion were illegal, the story might be different. Feminists want to keep the law off women’s bodies (unless that law is state mandated health insurance) with respect to abortion. Why not also keep the law away from men’s bodies and allow them the same rights to casual sex that women have?
