Bryan Caplan criticizes Albert Jay Nock’s view of war. In general, if you disagree with Nock, you’re almost certainly wrong. Caplan believes that it’s really hard to get people to fight wars, which is why they’re so rare throughout human history, er . . . nevermind, I don’t really follow his argument.

Asian parenting works–provided that that the child in question is reasonably gifted. And it works especially well with kids of extraordinary ability.
